Trekking To Everest

The Backcountry Blog has a nice trip report from one of their customers who recently spent time in Nepal trekking to Everest. It sounds like it was a great trip, with plenty of amazing sights to see, both natural and cultural. The report is short, but will certainly whet your appetite for a visit yourself. The photos don’t hurt either. Perhaps we should organize an Adventure Blog trip somewhere! Who’s with me?

  1. Alright! Jon and I, and who else? 🙂

Trekking Everest, and Annapurna, would be an amzing trip. Reading this article makes me want to go all the more.

  2. Doing an Everest Base Camp trek is a dream trip for me. I don’t have realistic expectations of every climbing Everest purely from a financial standpoint, but trekking Everest or the Annapurna circuit is certainly possible.

One of the major guide companies actually had an Everest Trek that had an optinal extension that involved actually climbing to Everest Camp 1 above the Khumbu Icefall. It added a few thousand dollars to the cost of the trek, but was much cheaper than the cost of climbing the entire mountain.

I can’t remmeber which company it was (I want to say Mountain Madness), but tackling the Khumbu Icefall and getting to Camp 1 is an accomplishment all its own.

  3. Jon, hopefully you view the comments on this post again. Was just curious if the Rest Of Everest film is available to get as a DVD? There doesn’t appear to be any information on your website about getting the film. There is a section devoted to the film and what it is about… but no way to actually get it.

    Whats the deal?
