The Via Alpina Trail is a 1500 mile long monster trail that winds its way through the Alps, crossing Monaco, France, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia billed as the high alpine answer to the Appalachian Trail.
In this latest dispatch, hikers Alex Crevar and Carly Calhoun send images and information from the Via Alpina in Austria.
They comment on some wonderful food, namely cheese and bacon in Carinthia, and the high mountain lakes, traveling through Lienz, the regional capital, and more. Great read if you want to plan an epic through-hike, and they promise another dispatch is coming soon. Donβt hold your breath, though.
