Gear News From OR!

As I mentioned earlier in the week, the Summer Outdoor Retailer show is now in full swing, giving gearheads a place to focus all their lust over the next few days. More than 20,000 people will attend the show, which will have all the major, and minor, gear companies showing off their new products months before they go on sale.

Alicia over at TrailSpace.com arrived at OR, but not without the usual hazards of travel. Today she has posted some thoughts on Day 1 with news on MSR’s upgraded tents and other gear options. I have to say that the “E-Wing” sounds interesting, and not just because it reminds me of a space ship from Star Wars.

BackPackingLight.com is also posting tons of thoughts and impressions on the new gear at the show. Most of their articles require a membership however, but you can usually get the gist of the post from the few lines that are available for those of us who are on the outside looking in. Their website has recently undergone a site re-design, and I have to say I find it cleaner and less cluttered than before. (After that plug, do you think they’ll give me a “Membership” so I can drool over the gear?)

OR will continue to run through the weekend, and I’m sure we’ll see some hot new products announced. It’s almost like Christmas morning while I wait for Santa to deliver me the news on all the new packs!
