The Great Western Loop is a 6,875 mile long trail that winds itβs way through 12 national parks and 75 wilderness areas across the Western half of the United States. This is only the most recent long distance hike for Skurka, who has also completed the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and a coast to coast on a trail of his own devising. This is his longest journey yet, and he shared the experience through periodic podcasts and posting photos online.
Skurka is a proponent of the ultralight approach to long distance hiking. He shares his gear list here as well as his itinerary here. Just in case you would like to walk in the manβs footsteps.
Amazing journey Andrew. Welcome home. Now put those feet up and rest a bit.
