ExWeb has posted another good interview today, this time with Danielle Fisher who, along with Lakpa Sherpa, became the only people to summit on Shisha Pangma this season.
The 22 year old American climber comes across as much more mature than her age would imply. She is already a very experienced mountaineer, with the Seven Summits under her belt, climbs on Cho Oyu, and obviously now Shisha. In the interview she touches on such subjects as following the same route up the mountain as IΓ±aki Ochoa the year before (She says they simply took the most logical route) and what it was like to traverse the snow face just below Shishaβs main summit. (Hint: It was scary!) She also discusses future plans, saying she has no set goals at the moment, but would love to guide, and she talks about how learning to focus during climbs has helped her with her ADD, allowing her to focus more on school work as well.
All in all, a good interview with a great, up and coming young climber. Danielle has already put together a nice resume of climbs, and I can only imagine what she could do were she to set her mind to it. She is certainly an impressive young woman, and I look forward to reading about her future climbs as well.
You can learn more about Danielle on her official website, which seems to be a bit outdated.
