I surfed on by Backpacker.com earlier today and was surprised to see that the official website for Backpacker Magazine has gotten a fresh coat of paint. The re-design is loads better than the aging site they had in place before, and it seems that they’re poised to give us more fresh content.
The new “Find A Hike ” option with the map of the United States, and the ability to quick search for a variety of areas, including city and state, is prominently centered at the top of the screen. The “featured articles” are much easier to glance through, and are well organized as well, and all in all the site looks more modern and is easier to navigate.
All in all, I’d give it a thumbs up. Looks great so far, and hopefully we’ll see more articles and information posted on the site, which always has interesting content, but doesn’t seem to be updated frequently enough for me. But then again, considering how often I post here, I’m not sure they CAN update enough. 😉
