The Blackwater Escape and Evasion Adventure Race that was announced a few months back has been rescheduled for March 28th and 29th, 2009 in Moyock, North Carolina from itβs original date of November 8th of this year. The race has also switched formats, going from a 24 hour event to a 12 hour race instead.
The delay will help alleviate conflicts between races, as the USARA has their championship race scheduled for the same weekend in November. The shorter format should also make the race a lot more accessible to a wider range of athletes as well. The race will still have all the standard adventure racing disciplines, including trail running, mountain biking, and paddling, plus a few surprises from the folks at Blackwater that should definitely set the race apart.
More details on the race will be coming in the near future, but prospective racers are encouraged to checkout the website for updates and news. While those of us involved with the race are a bit disappointed in the change, we do agree that itβs going to make for a better event in the long run and allow for many more people to participate.
