I’m still catching up on a few posts from last week while I was away, and thankfully I have great fellow bloggers to keep me informed of what’s going on. For example, Rick over at the Best Hike Blog, linked to this story over at NationalGeographic.com that announced the winners of a photo contest for the Best Wild Animal photos of 2009.
The contest was sponsored by the Natural History Museum of London and the BBC Wildlife Magazine. As you might expect, the seven winners are quite exceptional and it’s difficult to choose a favorite, although I have to say that the one shown below is the probably the most striking to me. Just some amazing shots by some very skilled photographers. Enjoy.

Yep! And I love that image of the snow leopard so much. Something about those elusive cats really intrigues me.
Stunning! What an experience that must have been.
OMG this is so freakin phenom! All my family live right by the ocean. My mom literally grew up on a boat with whales, and dolphins and seals oh my, I have yet to see one myself in person however as she moved mid west when she had kids, and moved back when we became adults, but support WWF and have many pictures of such mammals around my cabin. I pray one day I get out to see such sentient beings in person, for I know I will fall onto my knees and cry when I do. I cannot imagine this experience, holier than holy. Metta
I’m in awe of that photo too Metta. Simply amazing.
