The first official press release for Adventure Week 2009 hit my inbox earlier today, and promises lots of great things next June when the event gets underway in scenic Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
Adventure Week 2009 is scheduled to run from June 5-14, 2009 in Farragut State Park, located just 30 miles North of the host city. Over the course of ten days, there will be 18 separate, and unique races, including the Xterra-Farragut, an off-road triathlon that will serve as an offical qualifier for the Xterra Nationals.
Other events will include The Deepwater Trail Runs, which include a marathon, a marathon, a 50k run, and a 50 mile run, which will serve as a qualifier for the Wester States Ultra, the Gauntlet, a shorter off-road triathlon, and of course the Crux and the Crucible adventure races. There will be plenty of activities for us mere mortals as well however, with mountain biking, orienteering, disc golf, and kids events planned. All told, more than 1000 competitors are expected to participate.
As if all of that wasn’t intriguing enough, the press release hints at big announcements yet to come, including some “VERY special guests” who will be attending and competing at Adventure Week. Hmm… wonder who they are talking about? A big announcement is promised in the near future, so for now we’ll just have to all wait to see what’s in store.
