Men’s Journal Magazine has posted a good interview with rock climber Chris Sharma, widly considered one of the best climbers in the world.
This interview was conducted some time back, after Sharma completed his route on Clark Mountain that he dubbed “Jumbo Love“. The route is rated as a 5.15b, which puts it amongst the toughest in the world. As part of their end-of-the-year blowout, the magazine is reposting some of their top stories of 2008.
In the interview, Sharma talks about some specifics of the route, calling it the hardest he’s ever done, and detailing what makes it so challenging. He also talks about how he came across the route, which he studied for three years before attempting, and he goes on to discuss how he prepared for such a physically and mentally demanding climb.
As the year wraps up, it’s kind of nice to look back on these accomplishments and think about everything that happened in the world of adventure. Sharm’s big climb is certainly high up on that list without a doubt.
