The 100 Best Adventure Websites

Outside Online has a cool article online today with links to their favorite websites in regards to outdoor adventure, travel, gear, and more.

Many of the sites are well known to regular readers here, with Everest Newsand Explorers Web making the list under the category of “Adventure”, while SummitPost and Peakbagger get nods under the “Sports” category for “hiking and climbing” sites.

Still, if you’re looking to add some new websites to your lists of favorites, there will be plenty to opportunities here. The websites are broken down into categories such as “Travel”, “Health”, and “Gear”, with some great suggestions listed under each. It’ll take you days to explore all the options and there are plenty to appeal to everyone. I particularly liked some of the options for trip planning in the travel category, with TripWolf and Trazzeler showing some real potential.

The Gear category offers the usual suspects when it comes to online shopping for great new stuff, but also offers some new alternatives as well. I’ve been a big fan of Steep and Cheap for a long time, but wasn’t aware of a few of the others listed on the page, such as GrassRootsOutdoors.com, which is an advocate for independently owned, local gear shops.

All in all, a great list of sites, and I’ll be adding a few to my lists for sure. Sadly, my little corner of the Internet is nowhere to be found on the list. I guess I’d better work harder for next year!! 2009 New Years Resolution: Blog Better!!
