Over at the Primal Quest website we kicked off a new regular feature today in which aspiring PQ racer Todd Phillips will be making regular blog posts as he prepares to transition from a Primal Quest volunteer to a Primal Quest racer!
The first entry was posted today, with Todd discussing his motivations for racing “The Worlds Most Challenging Human Endurance Challenge”. It seems that the world traveler, who happens to be a chemical weapons inspector in his day job, will be turning 40 this year, and he has set a goal for himself to race i PQ for his 40th birthday.
Expect more entries over the next few days, as Todd kicks off his blog in style, and then we’ll receive regular updates on his training, search for sponsors, gear choices, and a whole lot more, leading all the way up to the start of the race on August 15th in the Badlands of South Dakota. If this first entry is any indication, we’re in for a funny, irreverent, and enjoyable read.
I had the chance to briefly meet Todd last year at Primal Quest Montana. He’s a boisterous and energetic guy, who I’m sure will do quite well in his preparations. We’ll miss him as one of our medical volunteers, but he’ll have a blast tackling the 600 mile course that we’ve got planned. Coincidentally, much like Todd, I’ll also be hitting 40 this year. I’ll have the opportunity to celebrate that birthday while at Primal Quest. I can’t think of a better way to ring in a new decade!
