First Ascent has announced the 2010 recipients of their Be First Sponsorship Program, with a number of worth adventurers taking home some of the sponsorship cash. The program is designed to give applicants an opportunity to pursue their own adventures and go after the challenges that intrigue them, no matter where they may be, and judging from the list of winners, Iβd say that charge has been well met.
Amongst the recipients of these first time awards are Joby Ogwyn, a professional mountaineer who has turned to wing suits. Joby will attempt to fly over Everest in just such a suit this year. Mark Fisher, and Todd Passey have similar high altitude aspirations, as they will attempt to snowboard and ski down Shisha Pangma, while Troy Henkels will attempt something completely different when he kite surfs across the Bering Strait.
Congratulations to all the recipients. I look forward to following their various adventures. For a complete list of the winners click here. And to apply for your own Be First grant click here.
