Mountain Biking in Moab

Earlier this week I wrote a story for Gadling.com about all the cool events that will be taking place in and around Moab, Utah this fall. The city of roughly 5000 inhabitants is always a great destination when looking for outdoor adventure, and is considered one of the top mountain biking destinations in the U.S. The list of upcoming events for this fall reflects that with several major races and bike festivals taking place there in the next few weeks.

One of the other events that will be taking place at the end of the month is the Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing National Championships, which will crown a winner in the Checkpoint Tracker series of races. That event goes down on October 29-30 and will have some of the top teams in North America dueling it out for the title, not to mention some great prizes. While reading the Checkpoint Zero blog earlier today I came across the video below which shows off some of the great mountain biking that is available in the Moab area. The video shows off Poison Spider Mesa and the Portal Trail, which looks amazing, whether you’re on a bike or not. Be warned however, after watching this you may want to turn off the computer and go get on your bike. Better yet, you may want to book a flight to Utah.
