Mark Burnett Casting For “Expedition Impossible”

Reality television mogul Mark Burnett, who created the show Survivor and brought adventure racing to the masses in the early 90’s with the Eco-Challenge, is looking for adventurous souls for his next show. The new program is entitled Expedition Impossible and the Untamed Adventure website, where you’ll find the casting posting, describes the show like this:

“–teams of three will solve problems while racing across deserts, over mountains and through rivers. Each week a new stage of the expedition will be revealed. After ten stunning legs of competition, one team will cross the finish line first to claim victory.”

Described like that, the show sounds a bit like adventure racing meets The Amazing Race, although admittedly it sounds a bit more physically challenging than that show.
If you’re interested in trying out for the program, you’ll want to send an e-mail to dpo.casting@gmail.com that contains the following information:
• Name, age, location and contact info for all three (3) team members

• Recent photo of all 3 team members

• Level of individual and team’s experience with competitions/races, etc.

• Brief description of why your team is great for this competition and why you will win

• Anything else that makes your team memorable and unique

If accepted to compete on the show, you’ll need to have all of April off to take part in the race.
On a personal note, I met Burnett a few years back and had a chance to chat with him about Eco-Challenge. He told me that it was his favorite project of all that he had done up until that point, and he wished he could keep doing it, but that the liability of such a race was too much. While it’s too early to say that Expedition Impossible will be anything like the legendary Eco-Challenge, it does sound a bit like he he has found a way to get back into adventure racing to a degree. It should be interesting.

  1. I cannot wait for this show to hit the air. More importantly I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my team, "Living in Sanity," gets picked.

  2. When will the next castings for the second season of this show take place? I'm sure they were holding off to see how the first season went.
