Erik Weihenmayer is a guy that I admire a lot. We all know him as the first blind person to summit Everest but really that is just the tip of the iceberg for all the adventurous things he’s done. For instance, not only has he climbed the Seven Summits, he has also competed in the Leadville 100 mountain bike race and ridden a bike for more than 1000 miles (1609 km) between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. He is a skier, adventure racer and even a skydiver. In short, there isn’t much Erik doesn’t do in the outdoors. We can add paddler to the list as well as you’ll see in the video below which shows him picking up the new sport.

Erik has been an inspiration for many years now. I've linked to him also on my blog for just that reason.
It would be wonderful to meet him out on the trail someday too. 🙂
