Outside magazine recently called Richard Bangs the “father of modern adventure travel” and if you’ve ever seen his television show Adventures with Purpose, you know that he gets to some pretty unusual and off the beaten path places. He is also a big proponent for getting outside and finding an adventure no matter where you go. That is the message found in the video below, in which Richard finds ways to overcome “Vermont Deficit Disorder” by heading out into the backcountry. Obviously, this is meant to promote the state of Vermont as a place to get away from it all, but I think the message is a good one. Getting outside and disconnecting from the modern world for a time is good for our health and well being. Something that most of us already know, but it is nice to be reminded every once in awhile.
