As I mentioned in my earlier post today, teams are arriving in the North Base Camp on Everest, where the scene is very different from what is found on the South Side. Where as no the Nepali side of the mountain things are more hectic and bustling, in Tibet there are far fewer teams. This year there only about seven squads climbing from that side of the mountain. The views are quite different there as well, as the summit is far more prominent on the North Side.
The video below gives us a brief tour of the site and a good idea of what conditions are like there. The wind is quite harsh, as you’ll be able to tell from the noise, but you’ll get a better feeling of what life is like on the Chinese controlled side of Everest.
