The Adventure Journal shared this great video a few days back, and I thought it was definitely worth sharing here as well. It is a short 22-minute documentary about an ultramarathon held in my backyard called the Barkley 100. Each March, 40 runners attempt to complete five loops of a 20-mile trail located in Knoxville, Tennessee. They have 60 hours to finish the entire route, which is through some of the toughest terrain imaginable and includes over 65,000 feet of elevation gain. Over the course of the 30 year history of the race, only 14 people have managed to actually finish. The video gives you a glimpse of just how tough the Barkley 100 actually is.
