In honor of the start of the climbing season in the Karakoram I thought I’d share this video, which shows us the route that climbers must take on their way to the summit. The climb actually begins in the village of Askole, with a long and difficult trek required just to reach Base Camp.
From there, the real work begins with a challenging climb up one of the most difficult and dangerous mountains on the planet. We’re weeks away from anyone actually attempting a summit push at this point, but this is what they’ll face in the days ahead.
