The video below shares footage from the very first National Geographic film that was created way back in 1902. That adventure documentary depicted the ill-fatedΒ Ziegler Polar Expedition, which was an early attempt to reach the North Pole. The journey ended in disaster with the team getting stuck in the Arctic ice for nearly two years before eventually being rescued. The footage marks Nat Geoβs first foray into filmmaking, which would later become a hallmark of the organization. Check it out below.
