If you’ve ever wondered how safety workers keep skiers and snowboarders safe from avalanches in the winter, than this video will certainly be of interest. But even if you’re not a winter warrior, you’ll still probably finding it fascinating. In the clip, we join a safety worker in Mt. Hood Meadows as she patrols the area looking for potential hazards. Along the way, she uses explosives to trigger controlled avalanches to avoid accidents in both the backcountry and at the resort. It is one of those jobs that most of us don’t ever think about, yet we’re sure glad that someone does it.
