AWExpedtions and Nite Ize Summit Scholarship Want to Send One Lucky Lady to Everest Base Camp

If you’ve always wanted to visit Nepal, trek to Everest Base Camp, and go to the top of a Himalayan peak, then I have some good news for you –– provided you’re a woman. Aurora Women’s Expeditions has joined forces with gear manufacturer Nite Ize to create the Summit Scholarship, which aims to send one lucky lady to the top of Island Peak and on a trek to Everest Base Camp.

The Summit Scholarship –– which is also supported by our friends at Lowa –– was created to give more women opportunities to participate in bucket-list outdoor adventures that they may not normally have the chance to go on. This year’s scholarship will allow the recipient to join an expedition heading to Nepal in October of this year to take part in AWExepditions’ EBC trek and climb of Island Peak, a 6188-meter (20,305 ft) mountain that is the perfect training ground for future climbs on other mountains. While mostly non-technical, Island Peak does require the use of crampons, ice axes, and ropes to summit, providing confidence and experience with those all-important tools.

Typically, this trip costs $3200, but the Summit Scholarship will not only cover that cost, but also provide a $500 travel stipend to help cover airfare. The winner will also receive a $250 adventure kit from Nite Ize, and a collection of mountaineering footwear from Lowa valued at more $1300. The recipient of the award will be responsible for booking their own flights, as well as obtaining the necessary travel/rescue insurance prior to leaving for Nepal.

To apply for the Summit Scholarship simply click here and fill out the form. The winner will be announced sometime in May, giving them plenty of time to get ready for this amazing adventure. Good luck to everyone who signs up. This should be a fantastic opportunity.
