Our guest on this week’s episode of The Adventure Podcast is none other than Rick McCharles from BestHike.com, who has begun to dip his toe into the bikepacking arena. Rick shares some thoughts on getting started in the activity, how it compares to traveling on foot, and offers up some suggestions on where to go. It is interesting to get his perspective, as he has backpacked all over the world but is finding bikepacking to be a completely fun and interesting new challenge.
Before jumping into that conversation, my co-host Dave Adlard and I discuss the latest adventure news, including updates from the climbing season in the Karakoram, an attempt to sail a raft across the Pacific Ocean, and new speed records at the Badwater 135 ultramarathon. Later, we wrap things up with our latest gear picks, which includes backpacks from Eagle Creek, Sierra Designs, and Hyperlite Mountain Gear, as Dave, Rick, and I all chime in with our thoughts.
