Adventure Blog on Hiatus: I’m Off to the Serengeti!

Apparently the Discovery Channel is currently running a six-part special program on the Serengeti, Africa’s amazing grassland that is home to literally millions of animals. This comes as quite a coincidence, because on Monday, August 12 I’ll be jetting off to this beautiful place to spend a little time there myself. As a result, The Adventure Blog is going on hiatus for a bit while I’m away.

This isn’t my first visit to the Serengeti and it is amongst my favorite places on the planet. Which is why I’ve chosen it as the place to spend my 50th birthday. I’ll be celebrating on the “Endless Plain” of the savannah when I arrive their on August 14 and I can’t think of a better way to ring in my next decade.

If you want to catch a glimpse of why this is such a special place, check out the video above. It’s a promo for the new Discovery Channel show, and while it is a bit over-stylized, it does provide a sense of wonder and adventure that is found in this place. Depending on my Internet connection while I’m there, I may be able to share some of that to social media as well, as I expect there will be some great photo opportunities with the wildlife.

Before returning home, I’ll also be spending a few days on Zanzibar island, soaking up the sun, enjoying the beach, swimming in the Indian Ocean, and touring the historic locations found there. Needless to say, I should have a lot to share when I get back. Updates will resume soon. As always, thanks for dropping by my little corner of the Internet.
