The Adventure Podcast Episode 81: How to Properly Use Layers to Stay Warm in Winter

This week on The Adventure Podcast we tackle an important and useful topic by discussing the importance of utilizing a proper layering system to keep you warm on your adventures. We’ll talk about how base layers, an insulating layer, and a shell all work together to keep you warm and dry, enabling you to stay out longer, go further, and generally enjoy just about any type of weather. We’ll even make some recommendations for which brands and articles of clothing that we use in our closets for each of the three layers.

Before jumping into that discussion, my co-host Dave Adlard and I catch listeners up on the latest Adventure News, with updates from Nims Purja’s attempt on Shishapangma, a grand sailing expedition around North and South America, as well as Antarctica, and the story of a nine-year old who climbed El Capitan. Later in the show, we also reveal our weekly Gear Picks, with Dave recommending a pair of comfy shoes from Merrell, while I give propers to Midland for a set of two-way radios, while taking them to task for their naming conventions.

As usual, you’ll find the full episode embedded in this post below.
