Popular Mechanics Shares the Best Gifts for Outdoor Adventurers

A few days back we shared the Outside magazine holiday shopping guide, which dutifully offered up a list of great gifts to get your favorite outdoor enthusiast this year. Not to be outdone, Popular Mechanics has now gotten in on the act, offering up its own selection of great gifts for the adventurer in your life. As you would expect, the list is made up of some pretty impressive products that most of would love to find under our Christmas tree this year, including everything from outdoor apparel to footwear and so much more. There’s even a mountain bike on the list for those who have the budget to buy one, although there are also plenty of more affordable options too.

Pop Mech’s compilation of suggested gifts is actually quite long and has items for just about everyone, whether they’re hikers, climbers, travelers, backpackers, or just enjoy spending some time in the backyard. Some of the items that stood out to me include the Matador Freerain24 2.0 travel backpack, which is a great companion item for those who don’t want or need a full size daypack in their travels. The Cotopaxi Inti 2 tent also gets a nod for being a colorful and comfortable backcountry shelter, while Nikon’s ProStaff 10×25 ATB binoculars are a great choice for animal lovers and hikers alike. BioLite’s PowerLight Mini gets high marks for its bright light and versatility, while the Giant ToughRoad SLR is the aforementioned mountain bike, which is actually rather affordable at $1365.

There are plenty of other options on the list from some of our favorite brands, such as Mountain Hardwear, Mammut, and Hydro Flask. I’ll leave those for you to discover however, as it’s always a lot of fun to find out what makes the cut on these kinds of lists.
