As someone who has attended the outdoor industry’s annual gear conference in Denver, Colorado, for years now, it is clear what the message that gear brands are looking to send in this day and age.
We all have to become better stewards for the environment in whatever ways that we can. For companies like The North Face, that means using more sustainable materials and manufacturing processes.
That approach is explained nicely in this video, which does a good job describing the steps taken to make more environmentally-friendly gear and what exactly is at stake if those products don’t continue to improve. Even something as simple as a fixed blade camping knife needs to be created with sustainability in mind.
It’s a good message from an industry that has been built on the idea that we need to upgrade to the latest and greatest thing all of the time.
