Back in June of 2018, Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell stunned the world when they completed a speed ascent of El Capitan in record time. The two men were able to finish The Noseβarguably the most iconic route in all of climbingβin less than two hours, a truly impressive feat on par with breaking the two-hour barrier for marathon running.
In this video, we go up the wall with the two men, watching the entire climb from a distance with a clock running to show us their pace. Weβve all probably seen footage from this climb before, but not like this. It really does put a new perspective on the route and what it took to set a speed record for the ages.
