What’s it like to live in Antarctica? You may be surprised to learn that it is both more comfortable than you imagined and yet still incredibly challenging, even in the 21st century. This video takes us down to the frozen continent to get a sense of how modern day scientists and researchers spend months at a time in this cold and remote place.
The clip, which was produced by the Public Broadcasting Company, takes a look at how polar explorers from a century ago managed to survive in such an inhospitable place and how far we’ve come since Amundsen, Shackleton, and Scott.
