The Perils of Kite-Boarding

Earlier this week I posted a photo that made me say “Whoa!”. The video below may illicit a similar response, as you watch someone leisurely being pulled around by a kite while on his snowboard. Then, about halfway into the video, the wind grabs that kite, and pulls the snowboard, rider and all, way up into the air. It’s hard to judge exactly how high he gets, but it is definitely a scary sight. This does look like crazy fun though! 🙂

  2. I was wondering the same the thing. The title says that they were snowboarding in Algeria, where they speak Arabic, French, and Berber. Definitely didn't sound like French. Maybe Arabic? Although it didn't sound much like that either.

    I was waiting for the NSFW language to start flying. 🙂

  3. This is freaking insane! My heart dropped, when the wind pulled the guy up, but when he landed…!!!
    Kiting is going to be my new thing next year ( first kiteboarding, then kite mountainboarding, and then on the snow). Too bad, it's kinda expensive ( lessons and equipment).

  4. Yeah, the kites are a bit on the expensive side, but if you watch closely on the Internet, you can find some good deals. I see them on Steep and Cheap from time to time for half-price or even less.

    Looks like such a blast though. Especially if you can catch air like this guy! 🙂

  5. What a cool video. The kiteboarder was lucky he wasn't killed.

    The cameraman is talking in Algerian Arabic during the first second. Everything else spoken in the video by the cameraman and kiteboarder is in French. (I'm as much a language geek as an adventure geek.)
