National Geographic Adventure has posted their Gear Picks for 2008, just in time for the holiday gift buying season.
One of the things I really like about Adventure‘s list is that they always break the gear down into categories based on the environment in which it is intended to be used. For example, they have six environments that include snow, deserts, forests, mountains, water, and the broadly defined road trip. Selecting one of these environments will present you with six or seven choices for new gear that are suitable for use in that specific environment. This makes it nice for reading their recommendations based on where you might possibly be heading in the coming year.
As usual, I’m compiling my list of things I’d like Santa to bring me this year. I’ve been very good, so I expect I’ll get the new Mountain Hardwear Helion 2 tent (Forests), the Vaude Aracanada 30 backpack (mountains), and the Trance XO mountain bike from Giant. (mountains)
