Right now, there is a team of researchers in the Antarctic that are exploring some of the glaciers there using a robot known as “Icefin.” This robot allows them to see things that they normally wouldn’t be able to see, providing data and images on places that aren’t reachable by boat or on foot. The ultimate goal is to evolve Icefin to the point that its successors will eventually be sent to Europa, the icy moon that orbits Jupiter. For now though, the device is providing a new way for us to look at our own planet, and as you’ll see in this clip, it can be pretty eye-opening.
